A weekend in paradise

Here are some fun pictures from our last trip to Ashby... or as Robby likes to call it Paradise. If I could go home every weekend I would!

We danced.

Every wednesday evening they have a Big Band that plays at the Glensheen Mansion. I thought this would be a pretty classy event with wine and appetizers - but it was the exact opposite. We were definitely the youngest couple there. We might have been the life of the party...

Ebb Tide = so romantic. And yes, we did the Hokey Pokey alongside all of the old folks!

Robby's moves...

My signature move...

And the winner is...

for the most creative & hilarious wedding card ever!

Thank You Brandon Peterson! :)

It's good to be alive!

After waiting five hours in the emergency room with chest pain I found out I have a severe blood clot in my lungs. Scary! The first doctor I had was horrible and all I heard from her mouth was "life-threatening" and "medication for the rest of my life". She talked so fast it was so frightening and the look in Robby's eyes as he came over to hold my hand - I seriously thought I might be dying. But then I got a much more graceful doctor who sat down and explained everything to me - the only words I needed to hear was "it's treatable". That made me feel sooooo much better. Anyways - it has been so up and down the past few days. I've had a lot of pain in my chest and back and the doctor said since the clot is so big i might be in pain for a couple of weeks. Thank God for pain killers! I will be on medication for six months and then hopefully get to go off of them after that. Robby has gotten good at giving me shots! It was so great having my parents in town for a few days... times like this you just need your mom. Nobody can make me toast as good as her! Thank you to everyone who came to the hospital to visit, sent flowers, brought lunch and of course for all of your prayers. It is a great reminder of how fragile life is - i'm blessed with a great life, husband, family and friends!

Erin brought me caribou to brighten my day after hearing the bad news in the ER.

The Ohrens, Balgaards and Freys sent pretty flowers to my room.
So thoughtful!

Great Deals!

I love a good deal. Whether it's from a thrift store, antique store, boutique, garage sale... I just love the feeling of finding something you love at a ridiculously cheap price. Here are some of my recent finds.

Serendipity Sale!

I LOVE Serendipity. It's this cute store in Lakeside that has new and old items. It's in a cute old house... I could spend all day shopping there! I have been there three times in two days.... yikes!

I'm going to find some fun antique dishes... but you get the point! I LOVE this antique plate, silverware, napkin holder. I can't wait to have a party to use it!

Cute vintage hamper. Robby thinks this is an unnecessary purchase... but I LOVE it!

So one day I really want open cupboards... so obviously you have to have cute dishes. I plan on having an eclectic display of vintage dishes. I love these antique glasses.... I bought it and considered it a wedding present to myself.

I don't know why but I've been craving fall lately. I'm so excited for everything that has to do with fall (including the cooler weather). I think that is why I freaked out when I saw this. I don't have a thermos... I sure hope this keeps my coffee hot. I can't wait to go for a hike and bring this a long!

So I didn't actually buy this... but I really wanted to! Isn't it the cutest book shelf ever. I just love it so I had to post a picture of it. And I also love this....

I thought this would be the perfect little boy dresser... I really wanted to get it for Gavin but Heidi already has something. Anyways... Some little boy will have a pretty cute dresser!

Garage Sale!

Marnie has got me hooked on polish pottery. When I saw this I immediately knew it was from poland... and on the bottom it said handmade in Poland! I was really excited... although I have no idea what I will do with it yet.

Antique Store!

I fell in love with this dress at an Antique Store. I actually didn't buy it because I was too paranoid it was too crazy looking. Anyways... I need some advice. I think it could be really cute with a brown belt. I might have to go back there to buy this...

I also need some advice on this. You can get it personalized with your names/wedding date. I think its cute... but is it too cheesy? I can't decide.

Half Moon

Once I compile our wedding photos I will do one big long wedding post... but for now here are pictures from our mini-moon, half-moon, honey-moon?

Since we are holding off on a full-moon (or as some would call it honeymoon) until this winter, Robby and I spent our first few married days on a half-moon in the Boundary Waters. It was amazing! We paddled into Brule Lake and stayed on what I like to call "Honeymoon Island". The scenery was breathtaking. It was so peaceful and was nice spending some time away from our cell phones, computer, tv and living in the wilderness relying on each other for a few days. Robby spent a lot of time fishing while I read, journaled and soaked up the sun. Thanks to Uncle Duke we went all out with our menu and ate filet mignon, scalped potatoes and asparagus with some red wine our first night. If you know me, my favorite thing to do while camping is cook. We ate awesome food the entire trip. I just love camping... we had so much fun!

Here are a few pictures to enjoy of our "half-moon" :)

We drove on honeymoon trail to get to the lake!

I gave Robby this shiny new canoe paddle for his wedding present!
